VC‑02 Portable Vibration Calibrator

Publish Time: 2026-11-05     Origin: Site

1. Product Overview

The VC‑02 portable vibration calibrator is an integrated device for sensor calibration. It incorporates a signal generator, miniature power amplifier, vibration exciter table, built-in standard sensor, LCD control unit, and signal conditioning and sampling module. Featuring compact dimensions and light weight, it delivers continuously adjustable vibration frequency and amplitude with straightforward operation. A single unit can independently perform sensitivity calibration for sensors, and is widely used for laboratory tests and on-site verification of industrial sensors.

The instrument adopts the back-to-back comparison method for calibration: the built-in high-precision standard sensor and the sensor under test are mounted coaxially in a back-to-back configuration. Using the output of the standard sensor as the reference benchmark, the actual sensitivity of the sensor under test is calculated and output.

✨ Key Functional Features:

  1. Compatibility with multiple sensor types:

Supports calibration of four major categories of sensors, namely charge (PE), IEPE, voltage, and 4–20 mA current-output sensors, covering acceleration, velocity and displacement vibration sensors. Eddy current displacement sensors can be calibrated with an optional accessory kit.

  2. Continuously adjustable frequency and amplitude:

The frequency and amplitude of vibration excitation can be adjusted in real time. The colour LCD displays all critical parameters intuitively, including vibration frequency, vibration amplitude, sensitivity of the sensor under test and output voltage.

  3. System function verification:

With fixed vibration excitation conditions configured, the device can be connected to a complete set of vibration acquisition instruments or online monitoring systems to rapidly verify the functionality of the entire vibration measurement chain. It is capable not only of calibrating individual sensors but also validating complete measurement systems.

  4. Rich interfaces for computer connection:

Equipped with BNC signal input and output ports, 4–20 mA terminal blocks, a –24 V power output terminal and a USB communication interface. The unit can operate standalone or connect to a computer via USB for automated calibration (software optional).

  1. Maximum vibration amplitude and maximum load capacity of the calibrator:

The VC‑02 portable calibrator utilises a compact exciter table. Accordingly, the achievable output amplitude varies with frequency and the mass of the sensor under calibration. The maximum vibration amplitude and maximum load capacity refer to the peak achievable acceleration, velocity or displacement that the calibrator can deliver at a given frequency for a sensor of a specified mass. Detailed specifications are listed in the relevant table; all values in the table are root-mean-square (RMS) values.

*At higher frequencies, the values of vibration velocity and displacement become extremely low.

2. Key Technical Specifications

Note: The maximum output amplitude of the shaker table depends on sensor load mass and operating frequency. Heavier sensors and higher frequencies reduce the available maximum vibration amplitude. See the amplitude‑load comparison table in the manual.

3. Practical Operation Guide

3.1 Sensor Mounting

  1. Acceleration and velocity sensors: Fasten the sensor directly onto the calibrator’s vibration table using an M5 fastening screw. Adapter screws may be used for sensors with special thread specifications.

  2. Eddy current sensors: Fit the optional eddy current test kit, then mount the reference target, fixture assembly and sensor in sequence.

  3. Important operational reminders: Always power off the device before handling or disassembling sensors. Place the instrument on a stable, level surface. Remove sensors promptly once calibration finishes; do not leave sensors mounted on the vibration table for extended periods.

3.2 Wiring

  1. IEPE / charge / voltage sensors: Route the sensor output signal to the Input BNC port on the front panel. The instrument automatically performs impedance conversion, amplification, filtering and RMS computation internally, and displays the output voltage and sensitivity directly on the screen.

  2. 4–20 mA current-output sensors: Connect the signal to the 4–20 mA terminal blocks on the panel and complete power supply wiring following the circuit diagram in the manual.

  3. Eddy current preamplifier: The –24 V and 0 V terminals on the instrument panel supply power to the preamplifier, and the preamplifier output feeds into the BNC input.

  4. External monitoring and measurement: The Output BNC port on the panel outputs the conditioned signal from the sensor under test, which may be connected externally to a multimeter or acquisition device for synchronous observation. The signal at this port undergoes ×10 amplification; cross-check readings against the Output voltage shown on the display.

  5. PC connection: Use a USB data cable to link the calibrator to a PC for control via the optional upper-computer software.

  6. Power supply: Only use the original factory-supplied DC 24 V power adapter for power input.

3.3 Panel Knobs and Screen Configuration

The front panel carries three knobs: Amplitude, Frequency and Parameter.

  1. Parameter knob: Cycles through configuration options: select measurand type (Acceleration / Velocity / Displacement); select input signal type (PE / IEPE / Voltage / 4–20 mA).

  2. Frequency knob: Sets the operating frequency of vibration excitation.

  3. Amplitude knob: Rotate clockwise to increase vibration amplitude and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Before powering down, always turn the vibration amplitude down to the minimum setting to protect the exciter table.

  4. Direct readouts on display: Vibration frequency, excitation amplitude, RMS output voltage of the sensor under test, and the calculated sensor Sensitivity.

3.4 PC Connection (Optional)

Connect the unit to a computer via the USB port. The optional supporting upper-computer software enables parameter configuration, automatic calibration, and data saving and export, ideal for batch sensor calibration.
