Due to the high rigidity of quartz, the displacement under force is very small, typically within a few microns, and this virtually displacement-free measurement results in small errors for slow quasi-static processes. For measurements of fast processes, the high stiffness of quartz and the high intrinsic frequency associated with it are superior to other measurement methods.
